For years, I’ve dreamed of capturing the perfect shot of Dunstanburgh Castle, and “Marvel” is the culmination of that vision. This shot almost didn’t happen, but fate had a different plan. At 1:30 a.m., after much deliberation, I decided to go for it. I jumped into the van, and by 3:15 a.m., I arrived at the castle, just in time to witness something truly special.
What makes this shot even more magical is the Milky Way rising over the castle. As I stood there, the stars began to appear, and the ethereal glow of the galaxy stretched across the sky, perfectly framing the silhouette of the castle. The conditions were just right, but time was not on my side. Each long exposure shot took about 30 minutes to complete, and I had to work quickly to capture the entire scene.
The result is nothing short of awe-inspiring. This 72-image stacked and stitched panorama captures not only the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle but also the breathtaking Milky Way overhead, shimmering in all its glory. The waves crash against the shore, the first light of dawn begins to creep in, and the sky dances with stars—it’s a perfect moment, frozen in time.
“Marvel” is a true labor of love, a reflection of persistence, passion, and a bit of serendipity. The Milky Way rising over Dunstanburgh Castle adds a sense of wonder and scale, making this image more than just a photograph. It’s a story of chasing a dream and making it a reality, and I couldn’t be more over the moon with the outcome.
